Heal the world.
Genomera thrives through open, collaborative exploration of information, including genomic information. That means that we encourage sharing, and many of the tools that we provide as part of the Service are designed to lower the barriers to sharing personal information, including Personal Data. This section describes what information we collect and how we share that information within the Genomera Community and with third parties (the “Privacy Policy”).
To join the Genomera Community you will be required to submit Registration Information. You will also be required to create a Genomera user name and password. It is your responsibility to maintain the security and integrity of your Registration Information, including your Genomera user name and password. As part of certain Genomera Community activities, you may have the opportunity to share certain of your Registration Information with the Genomera Community, which you may choose to do at your sole discretion.
Once you have registered, Genomera enables Genomera Community members to share Personal Data and other User Content, both as described above. At present, Genomera is designed to facilitate the collection, storage and sharing of Genomera User Information, including in the use of Community Studies. Genomera itself does not request that you provide any Personal Data or User Content, but Genomera may use Genomera User Information that you may provide for any commercial purposes. That may change in the future and, if so, we will update this Genomera Community Agreement and this Privacy Policy accordingly.
To create the best possible tools, research and functionality for the Genomera Community and to facilitate Genomera’s mission, Genomera may use certain Genomera User Information you provide internally as needed, for instance to fulfill any request you make or otherwise as directed by you. We may also provide your Genomera User Information to Genomera-approved vendors, consultants, service providers and affiliates so that they may assist us in the development, maintenance and operation of the Service.
In the future, we may seek to share other portions of your Genomera User Information with certain third party collaborators, including researchers, biotechnology companies or other third parties. Any such arrangements will be carried out in accordance with separate written agreements that limit the public use and disclosure of your Genomera User Information. Except as described below, we will not share Genomera User Information in a form that would be reasonably likely to be personally identifiable with you unless we seek your explicit and prior permission.
Notwithstanding anything in this Agreement to the contrary, you acknowledge and agree that Genomera is free to preserve and disclose any and all Genomera User Information to law enforcement agencies or others if required to do so by law or in the good faith belief that such preservation or disclosure is reasonably necessary to: (a) comply with legal process (such as a judicial proceeding, court order, or government inquiry) or obligations that Genomera may owe pursuant to ethical and other professional rules, laws, and regulations; (b) enforce this Agreement; (c) respond to claims that any content violates the rights of third parties; or (d) protect the rights, property, or personal safety of Genomera, its Affiliated Entities, its clients or partners or the public. In such event we will take reasonable steps to notify you through the contact information you have provided to us in advance, unless doing so would violate the law or a court order.
Any Genomera User Information you choose to contribute to and share with the Genomera Community, including any Personal Data or Registration Data, may be used in one or more Community Studies. Indeed, you may choose to share specific Genomera User Information in direct response to your participation in one or more Community Studies. While Genomera provides the Service as a means to facilitate Community Studies, including the sharing of Genomera User Information, the decision to share any or no Genomera User Information, including Personal Data or Registration Data, with Genomera and the Genomera Community is yours alone, and you are solely responsible for any such information you choose to share. By default, Genomera User Information that you choose to share with the Genomera Community, including any Personal Data, will be associated with your Genomera user name and with certain other Registration Information, although not with your full name. You will have the option to associate certain Genomera User Information with your full name, should you so choose.
Because of the open and collaborative nature of the Genomera Community, any information you share within the Genomera Community will be visible to all other members of the Genomera Community. While Genomera will take commercially reasonable technical precautions to prevent non-Genomera Community members from accessing such Genomera User Information, there are a variety of ways in which such information could become accessible to third parties outside of the Genomera Community, including through accidental information releases and/or the activities of one or more third parties. BECAUSE GENOMERA IS UNABLE TO GUARANTEE THE SECURITY OF YOUR GENOMERA USER INFORMATION, YOU SHOULD NOT SHARE ANY GENOMERA USER INFORMATION, INCLUDING ANY PERSONAL DATA, WITH GENOMERA OR WITH ANY MEMBER OF THE GENOMERA COMMUNITY THAT YOU WOULD NOT WANT TO BE SHARED WITH THE ENTIRE WORLD.
Cookies are required to use the Genomera Service and Websites. A cookie is a small data file, which often includes an anonymous unique identifier that is sent to your browser from a website’s computers and stored on your computer’s hard drive. Genomera uses a type of cookie often called Session Cookies. Session Cookies are temporary cookies that remain in the cookie file of your browser until you log out of the website. Session Cookies do not store any personally identifying information, only a unique visitor ID number that we can use to customize the Genomera Community’s functionality for you.
As described elsewhere in this Agreement, you are free to withdraw from the Genomera Community at any time. If you choose to withdraw from the Genomera Community you may request that some or all of your Genomera User Information be removed from the Service by contacting us at genomera.com/support. Genomera will use reasonable efforts to honor all such requests, and will promptly remove any such Genomera User Information under Genomera’s control. However, because of the collaborative nature of the Genomera Community, as well as existing or future agreements with third parties, it is likely that it will be impossible for Genomera to ensure that all such Genomera User Information is removed from completed or ongoing genomic research projects or similar activities.
Genomera cannot guarantee the identity of any other individual with whom you may interact in the course of using the Service or who may have access (based on your decision or otherwise) to Genomera User Information you have made available through the Service. Additionally, we cannot guarantee the authenticity of any data that other individuals, including Genomera Community members, may provide about themselves.
